We're building a global network of OER4Covid teams. Can you help?

Dear [First Name]

As of Monday 13 April 2020, the OER4Covid initiative now has more than 800 participants from 67 different countries.

As a community-led initiative, OER4Covid is designed to act locally and share globally. To facilitate dynamic, cooperative, and contextually relevant interventions for using OER to assist during the current crisis, we are establishing a global network of teams to focus on identified priorities and areas of action.

Please complete the following online survey by Thursday 16 April 2020 to indicate if you would like to join any of the working groups or volunteer help to coordinate any group activities.

We will provide access to a range of communication tools including web conferencing for coordinators to conduct local synchronous discussions.
We provide more details below for your information.

Thank you for your consideration. Working together, we can respond to this crisis more effectively than if we each work alone.

Best wishes

Call for community coordinators

We invite community members to confirm their interests and to volunteer help with the coordination of different OER4Covid work streams at the:
  • institutional,
  • provincial/ state,
  • national, or
  • regional levels.
There can be more than one coordinator at each level, enabling rotation of coordination activities. Some volunteers may choose to work at multiple levels, e.g. an institutional and national coordinator.

Provisional working groups

Derived from submissions in the introduction forum and consultations during the launch webinars, we have identified the following provisional working groups:
  • OER content development, curriculum design, and learning design: This group is for individuals interested in developing OER resources and individuals interested in providing support with curriculum and learning design
  • Facilitators for capacity development: OER4Covid will offer a number of online capacity development courses to assist institutions in developing OER enabled courses. We invite members interested in providing facilitation support (face-to-face at your own institution or online) to participate.
  • Action research: OER4Covid will establish a research group to assist with identifying priorities and promote a consultative approach to implementing solutions. We invite individuals with research experience to join this group.
  • Resource curation: OER4Covid aims to curate openly licensed resources to assist educators and learners transitioning to online learning using OER. We invite library professionals and other interested people to join this group.
  • Technology support: The technology support group will focus on the OER4Covid aim to provide examples of open technologies to minimize the risks of proprietary vendor lock-in during the crisis.
  • Educator health and wellbeing: With many countries under lockdown, educators are working under significant stress levels. This group will focus on supporting interventions to promote educator health and wellbeing.

Access to communication tools

Each co-ordinator will be given free access to a BigBlueButton web conferencing room to facilitate synchronous discussions in your own time zone. We will also provide free access to a range of open source collaboration tools to support your activities.
