Introduction to web accessibility

Learn why digital accessibility is so important

WACC101 is a free online open education micro-course aimed at providing a “big picture” foundation for understanding the importance of creating digital content that is accessible to everyone. Not only does it make good business sense for organizations, web accessibility skills are in high demand as accessibility laws become more common around the world. Individuals with these skills have a competitive advantage in the job market. WACC101 is the first in a series of four micro-courses aimed at increasing awareness of digital accessibility around the world.

After completing this micro-course, you will:
  • Have a practical understanding of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Understand WCAG principles, success criteria, techniques, and compliance
  • Understand how people with disabilities use the Web
  • Have firsthand experience of the ways that barriers on the Web affect people with disabilities
  • Develop practical experience using assistive technologies
  • Gain relevant knowledge for IAAP certification as an accessibility professional
