Dear [First Name]

Welcome to Session 1: Professional Web Accessibility Auditing

We are excited to welcome you all to the Professional Web Accessibility Auditing.

Over the coming eight sessions you will learn together about Web accessibility, and how it is assessed and reported. We designed the course as a collection of readings, activities, and assessments that will help you build the skills and knowledge needed to perform professional web accessibility audits yourself.

Where to Start:

  • Once you’ve logged into the course, start by reading the Course Home page and the Course Start page where you will find critical details on what to expect.
  • After reading through the course details, read through the other pages of the Course Guide section for additional guidance on how to approach your learning while you are in the course.

Session 1 Topics

Our first goal this session is to get to know one another, so please be sure to introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum. Read through your classmates introductions to learn more about them, and to start making connections with one another.

We’ll start into the course content in this session with an Overview of Web Accessibility, to help you understand the “big picture.” We will also introduce you to ChromeVox, the screen reader we will be using throughout the course to do screen reader accessibility testing. You'll have an opportunity to describe your experience with the screen reader in the first assignment.

This session's tasks:

Good luck with your studies!
