Dear [First Name]

Welcome to Session 1 for Digital Accessibility as a Business Practice

We are excited to welcome you all to Digital Accessibility as a Business Practice.

Over the coming sessions you will learn about digital accessibility culture, and how to develop it. We’ve designed the course as a collection of readings, activities, and assessments that will help you build the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to weave digital accessibility into the culture of an organization.

Where to Start:

  • Follow the link to Digital Accessibility as a Business Practice, and optionally login to the course. Though login is not required to access the course, it is required to participate in discussions and other course interactions.
  • From the course Home page at the link above, choose "Start Here"  to open the instructions for taking the course.
  • From there you can click the Next link at the bottom of the page to move through the OERu Orientation, beginning with a description of the OERu Platform. You can skip the orientation if you are already familiar with OERu, and how it works.
  • After you have familiarized yourself with OERu, read through the Course Guide, starting with the Course Introduction then using the Next link, or using the Course Guide menu, to read through the rest of the Course Guide.

Session 1: Understanding the Big Picture

In Unit 1 of the Learning Pathway we’ll start into the course content with a Big Picture overview of digital accessibility, and introduce you to the Sharp Clothing Company and the role you will play in the company as part of this course.  We will also introduce you to the Business Cases for Accessibility, and local and international accessibility laws, and learn a little about disabilities and the types of barriers people with different types of disabilities often face when they navigate the Web.

This session's tasks:

We hope you all find the course interesting and engaging, and that it gives you all you need to enable digital accessibility in the organizations you are a part of.

Good luck with your studies!
